Since few of us have ever visited the Plateau, we depend on sketchy reports from people who have travelled
there and came back to tell us about their experience. Some of these eyewitnesses are notoriously unreliable, it seems they
have something to hide. Latest example for this was a gentleman named Avery Burton who was very vague in some of his recollections
of his encounters with the explorers. The following list is an effort to reflect the current store guide of the Zanga Mall.
If you hear about new additions, please let us know, so we can add to the store guide.
Chief Jacoba's Ale House - A very popular local bar and microbrewery, which offers a great
selection of organic beer and a light menu of raptor stew and T-Rex burgers. Try the mixed greens with Summerlee's vinaigrette,
if you want a light, but tasty meal. Or if you are really hungry, try the T-Rex burger supreme, half a pound of meat with
a very spicy sauce. Reservations recommended on weekends.
Veronica's Secret - The tagline for this store is Lingerie for all Planes of Reality and
it certainly does justice to it. The huge selection of fine lingerie satisfies even the most discerning shopper (that would
be Miss Krux) and they are able to find lovely bras, panties and flimsy nighties for any body type.
Brooks Brothers - These fine shirtmakers are essential for our male expedition members.
Their selection of classic men's shirts has helped Roxton, Challenger and Malone to stay well-dressed through countless shirt-ripping
adventures with hostile natives, aliens, trophy hunters and trogs.
Mr. Ramone's Hair Palace - THE place to get a haircut on the Plateau. See Hairy Matters for more details.
Plateau Gun Emporium - Not surprisingly this store is the brainchild of Lord John Roxton.
He insisted on a store that would provide a large selection of firearms, with regular shipments from other planes of reality
and an inhouse gunsmith, who would support him with gun maintenance.
Hat Heaven - Since Roxton uses - or rather abuses - his hat for many non-fashion related
tasks (mud-container comes to mind...), he is a regular customer at Hat Heaven.
Zanga Espresso - Whether you need fresh beans or just want to sit down and have a latte
or cappuccino, Zanga Espresso is the place to be. Some detractors have claimed that caffeine can be addictive and that it
can have a negative impact on health, but these voices were quickly silenced when Marguerite Krux published an independant
study that showed that five lattes per day keep the doctor away. Professor Challenger called the study unscientific, but what
does he know anyway?
Boots and Sneakers - The magnificent boots that the explorers are wearing are not the same
ones they wore when they first came to the Plateau. Long walks, a humid climate and general wear and tear made it necessary
for them to replace their footwear on a regular basis. Boots and sneakers caters to their wishes with custom-made boots.
Stain Devil - The clothes of the explorer are a triumph of modern dry-cleaning. Mud, raptor
or human blood, dirt, red wine, bee intestines - nothing can withstand the merciless efficiency of Stain Devil.
Nails4You - The nail salon was opened after Mr. Ramone fired one of his stylists for gossiping
too much about clients. The disgruntled employee intended first to open up a competing salon in the Zanga Mall, but through
the intervention of Miss Krux this plan was squashed in its infancy. Mr. Ramone graciously agreed to allow a nail salon on
the premises and Nails4You was born. The salon does not only provide manicure and pedicure services for humans, it is also
specialized in providing services to lizards and trogs.
Paper Mill - This store offers a wide selection of journals, diaries, sketch pads and speciality
paper. It's most loyal customers are Ned Malone and Veronica Layton.
Krux's Fine Jewelry - THE place on the Plateau to get a grandiose piece of jewelry for
a loved one. Their selection of diamond rings is spectacular and occasionally they also have shipments of magic emeralds.
